Safety Expectations

A safe work environment is everyone’s responsibility. Accordingly, all employees are expected to evaluate their work methods and areas for potential safety hazards and/or ideas for improving safety in their work environment. If any employee sees or receives an injury or observes a hazard, he or she is expected to report it to his or her supervisor or another supervisor as soon as possible.

Safe Working Conditions

We comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) which requires that all recognizable hazards that may endanger an employee be eliminated. You can assist in maintaining a safe work environment by being aware of potentially unsafe working conditions. If you discover a potentially unsafe working condition, piece of equipment or procedure, contact your supervisor immediately. You may prevent a serious accident from occurring. Material Safety Data Sheet on all cleaning products and chemicals used at Tenth are kept on file in the Administrator’s office. Required postings are in the mailroom/staff workroom. The sexton policy manual outlines their safety procedures.

Reporting Illness/Accidents

In any emergency, please call 911. If an accident does occur, large or small, report it immediately to your supervisor. Even if you become ill at work, report your illness to your supervisor. Supervisors will report all on-the-job accidents to the Administrator, who will take appropriate action. For further reference, see “On-the-Job Injuries and Illnesses."
